Horse Associations and Clubs
The
American Miniature Horse Association
(AMHA) is the world's leading Miniature Horse registry with
nearly 160,000 horses and more than 11,500 members in 37 countries
and provinces. Founded in 1978, AMHA promotes the breeding, use and
perpetuation of a standard of equine excellence in miniature,
separate and apart from ponies and other small equines.
The
American Miniature Horse
Registry (AMHR) is part of the American Shetland Pony Club.
The American Shetland Pony Club was founded in 1888 as a registry to
keep the pedigrees for all the Shetlands that were being imported
from Europe at that time. It has expanded to four separate
breeds under one club: The Classic American Shetland Pony, The
Modern American Shetland Pony, The American Miniature Horse Registry
and The American Show Pony Registry.
The
Heart of America Miniature Equine
(H.A.M.E.) club has the unique distinction of being the
first AMHA sanctioned club in the United States. Its shows are
normally held at the Boone County Fairground in Belvidere, Illinois.
Wisconsin Links
The
Southeast
Wisconsin Miniature Equine Club was formed in 1996 "for the
specific purpose of having fun!" Its stated goal is to promote and
improve the quality of miniature equines in southeast Wisconsin
through development and encouragement of good sportsmanship and
fellowship in recreation and in useful work.
The
Indian Head
Miniature Horse Club (IMHC) is a group of miniature
enthusiasts, primarily from the Indianhead Region of Northwest
Wisconsin. But the club has grown tremendously in the last few years
and now can boast membership from all over the state of Wisconsin,
as well as quite a few from Minnesota.
The
Dairyland Driving Club of
Wisconsin, over 175+ families strong, is dedicated to
promoting safe driving of horses. We sponsor pleasure carriage
drives, safety clinics, and educational seminars around the State of
Wisconsin.
The
Midwest Horse Fair
is the number one 3-day horse fair in America. Held in Madison,
Wisconsin at the Alliant Energy Center, it has been growing and
going strong since 1979.
Other Favorite Sites
Two of our
horses (so far) have come from
Royal Oak Farms in
Florida. They have been breeding and showing horses since
1988. They specialize in quality halter and driving horses.
They have a very long list of quality horses that started at their
farm.
Charminy Farm,
located in North Lake, Wisconsin, is a breeder who has also acquired
quality miniature horses from Royal Oak Farms.
