There are two reasons you may want to join our online community.

1. You are a descendent of someone in our Family Tree Database and would like to view information about living persons in your branch of the tree.
2. You are researching someone in our Family Tree Database and would like to contribute comments in our forum.

If you are just browsing there is no advantage to joining; you will have full access to everything in the family tree database, except for information about persons who are living.  You may also browse our forum.

As a member you will receive the following benefits:

• If you are a descendent of someone in our tree you will be able to see information about living persons in your branch of the tree.
• You will be able to communicate with others in our online forum.
• You will be able to more easily contribute information, articles, images and files to enhance our database and our site.
• You will be to view public information about other members of the site and communicate with them.

You have several options for finding information about a particular person in the Family Tree Database.

The most common method used is found on the home page of the Family Tree Database.

Simply type the last name and/or first name of the individual you are looking for.  You can type just part of a name if you're not sure about the spelling.  This will result in a page showing all the individuals which match the name you entered.  Simply click on one of the person names and you will be taken to that individual's information page.

There are other methods you can use to find people in the Family Tree Database.

Our Family Tree Database is very powerful and has many, many features.  Using the database is very intuitive, but I know it is not always easy to find what you are looking for.  I will be adding more help topics as time goes on.  Please be patient.
